First Tyr Tournament

Tyr hosted it's first ever tourney on March 28th, 2026. While technically there was one tourney before this, this one was the first paid one and considered the first real tourney the game has had.

General Info

Teams:

There were a total of only 6 teams for this playtest. There was 2 pro World of Tanks teams - SMAKD (semi-pro), THUMBS - Then there was Gargaldia along with 3 Tyr central teams: Free Birds, Top Tyr, and Prototype.

Team Overview:

Each team had set people.

• Free Birds: This was a team of free agents that didn't sign up for a team or didn't get into one with MacMillGaming as the captain.
• Gargaldia: A Team from France that is a group of friends with a couple WoT veterans.
• Top Tyr: This was one of the teams filled with some of the top players in the game, plus a couple extras
• SMAKD: This was one of the semi pro World of Tanks teams, they never played much of Tyr before so they were at a bit of a disadvantage. Plus they were 4 pro players and friends.
• THUMBS: This was the main pro World of Tanks team that has played lots of Tyr, so they were the most skilled team. (How there was technically one tourney before this, THUMBS won it.)
• Prototype: This was the team of yours truly and filled with a lot of THE top players in the game (Leaderboard wise).

Tournament Overview:

The tournament was a paid tournament of $2080. First place would get $1560, second place would get $520.

Brackets:

The two teams that had a player with the highest mmr's would get a pass and not play the first round. In this case Prototype had the #1 player on the leaderboard - when you factor out the devs - so we got a pass.

Overview

There were many thoughts throughout the tournament.

First Rounds

• SMAKD won their matches against the Free Birds quickly and won decisively.
• With THUMBS against Gargaldia most people thought THUMBS would win since they won last tourney and were also extremely good at the game, and they did win.

Second Rounds

• First we have THUMBS against Top Tyr, people thought the games would be close because there were well known players in both teams. THUMBS ended up winning their matches without losing one and moved on to the Finals.
• With SMAKD against my team Prototype, people thought we were going to get steam rolled, but we won all our matches without losing. We won 7-1 for the first round, then 7-1 on the second, then moved on to the finals

Third Rounds (Finale)

• Just like with the previous game, us in Prototype against THUMBS, people thought THUMBS would steamroll us aswell, especially since they hadn't lost a match. Prototype would actually end up winning the first round 7-1 against THUMBS suprising everyone. Afterwards THUMBS won all the other rounds and pushed us back quite a lot. THUMBS would then win the entire tournament.
