Winning the Game
By Agent Delta
At first glance, the way a match in Tyr plays out and resolves seems obvious: destroy the enemy team before they destroy us. This will win you the match, to be sure, but there are a couple other win-conditions every player needs to be aware of in case this simple resolution proves elusive.
Kill or Capture
Usually, the match will end in one of two ways: either one team is completely eliminated, or one of the teams reaches 100% capture on the enemy's base.
Capturing
While on an enemy base, you will contribute 1% capture progress every second. Up to two more allies can contribute at the same time, meaning 3% per second (adding more teammates will not raise this rate any higher). Tanks sitting on their own base decrease its capture progress by 3% every second.
However, if any tank currently capturing a base is penetrated, their capture progress will immediately go down by 20%. If at least one tank from each team is on a base at the same time, the base is "contested" and progress will remain static until there are only members of one team or the other on the base.
Tiebreaks
Each match runs on a 10-minute timer. If neither of the major conditions listed above have been met by the time these 10 minutes are up, victory is awarded by the following rules:
- The team with the most capture progress wins.
- If capture progress is equal, the team with the most remaining tanks wins.
- If both teams have the same number of tanks left, the team with the most remaining total health wins.
In terms of tiebreaks, this means that capture progress always wins, even if it's only be 1%! If you're not confident about being able to finish off the enemy team, secure your own base or go for some quick capture progress right as the match is ending!
Last Stand
Finally, as the match progresses, stay aware of the Last Stand mechanic. This kicks in once either team is down to 3 or less remaining tanks AND that team is outnumbered by 2 or more (meaning Last Stand can only be active for one team or the other, never both at the same time). While Last Stand is active for the outnumbered team, tanks on that team will gain 0.5 energy every second (passively) and regain a large chunk of health whenever they make a kill.
If you're low on health, be very careful about engaging tanks on their Last Stand. If they manage to kill you, they might gain enough health to turn the match around!
Conclusion
Knowing these rules by heart will enable you to make the best tactical decisions towards winning every match, even when things start to take a turn for the worse. Make the most of every situation!
