Patch Notes — October 30, 2024

By wacko

General

Movement

  • Movement has had a somewhat-large rebalance. Overall you should find that tanks are more intentional and expected in their forward/back movement, but have more secondary suspension movement. Driving your vehicle slightly off cliffs, up ramps, or into obstacles to manipulate your elevation and depression should be more consistent and predictable. These are intended to go a long way to making the vehicles feel more grounded and real, as well as making them easier to control.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed hover vehicles to climb hills much better than intended. This will primarily prevent you from driving straight up cliffs, but will also slow these vehicles to speeds close to treaded tanks when driving up steep hills.

There are a few cases we still expect movement to be a little off

  • Some edge case ram collisions can cause more movement than expected
  • Powersliding currently causes you to slide further than expected

Last Stand

  • Reduced the energy gained on kill while under the effect of last stand to 25 from 50 (now fills a quarter bar instead of a half bar)
  • Reduced the heal gained on kill while under the effect of last stand to 15% max HP + 200HP from 30% max HP + 300HP
  • The goal for this system is to give the last players standing a long shot chance to overcome the odds against a team significantly ahead. It should NOT be an advantage.

Camera

  • When zoomed out quite far, the camera should no longer bounce excessively with terrain
  • When flipped, the camera should no longer show underneath the world
  • In sniper mode, the camera should now move significantly less with hull tilting. This makes stopping + starting cause much less camera shake than before.

Track Repair Times

  • Track repair times reduced to 4/3/1 from 5/3.5/1
  • The three numbers indicate the initial repair time, the second re-track repair time and the third re-track repair time since tracking has diminishing returns

Impact Sounds

  • Sound attenuation range for shell impacts against players has been significantly reduced to avoid confusion between you and your nearby allies getting hit

Vehicles

Force Push Tank

  • Fixed a bug where the lower plate armor was incorrectly bouncing shots despite showing green

Ram Tank

  • The middle section of the front rammer is now mostly impenetrable. The sides of the rammer remain thinner. This should make it more clear where to shoot a ram tank that is coming forward at you.

Healer Tank

  • Canceling a charged heal to heal yourself now correctly starts the reload timer.

Stealth Bike

  • New Model (still not final but directional for the armor profile)

Wall Tank

  • New model (still not final art but directional for the armor profile)

Blink Tank

  • New hover VFX
